Daycare or Home Based Care

I cannot believe its January 2013 already and this is generally the time when families will start thinking about childcare for there child and will look around at the options available. I was asked the other day the difference between home based care and childcare centres and what I thought was best option.

To make this post as real and as honest as possible I need to first tell you how I feel about homecare vs daycare, my honest opinion is nothing will beat you being there.

In today’s busy and hectic life style I realise this can be very difficult for many families not only financially but self servingly, to give up income, relationships, your professional working identity and recognition from those around you as a working parent, but what you will gain is Time With Your Child and is time you will never gain back.

lets not fall our selves here, no one on this earth will take as much care of your child as you will (although I do my best), I believe first and foremost that it is our duty to raise our kids our selves as best we can, to spend as much fun filled  and eventful quality time with our children as possible.

A long time ago now I read in a book that a child spells love T.I.M.E, I believe this is so true, so to answer the question I believe you as the parent are the best person to care for your child.

If this is 100% not an option for you then here are some reasons why I feel home based care would be your next best option!!!

1- maximum of 4 children under 6, never more than 2 under two

2- child's own routines can be followed (in most cases)

3- the home educator is like a another parent, child is looked after by the
same person, building a great bond and relationship.

4- home away from home, family environment

5- children get to interact with children both older and younger.

6- child gets to go on outings most days,  playgroups, music, zoo,
museum ect (with me anyway J).

7- child has there own room to sleep (most cases)

8- hours can be flexible for families

9- you are still entitled to the ECE (early childhood education) subsidy
for 3 & 4 year olds (20 hours).

10- less illness, so less days off work for the parent.

 11- child and families build a close relationship with the home educator;
educator may also have the child in the evenings, weekends or overnights
 (In some cases)

These are just some reason I can think of, what’s you view? Please share your thoughts "for" or "against"!! I would also like to hear your positive or negative experiences with home based or day care centres.

 Thanks and talk soon
